A banner year for cinematographers

Award Central: Oscar, ASC nominations in a rare alignment -- Nowhere is the embarrassment of riches more evident in the 2007 Oscar race than in the cinematography category. Roger Deakins alone established such a career high-water mark that he was nominated for two films ("The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," "No Country for Old Men"), preventing topnotch lensers like Harris Savides ("American Gangster," "Zodiac") Rodrigo Prieto ("Lust, Caution") and Ed Lachman ("I'm Not There") from claiming a fifth slot.
