RAINN WILSON wandered onto the grounds of the Griffith Observatory in the same secondhand suit coat, striped tie and dark jeans he wore when he introduced the Jonas Brothers at the Teen Choice Awards barely an hour earlier. His only attempt at anonymity was a blue baseball cap shading his face. It wasn't enough.
His glasses alone were black-framed confirmation that he was indeed the man who plays Dwight Schrute, Steve Carell's authority-obsessed underling on "The Office," a character that has rapidly morphed into a middle-management cultural icon.
Yet there was Mr. Wilson, 42, on a Sunday evening, in front of the Art Deco building, a weekend gathering place for thousands of tourists from all over the world.
"I love that L.A. has such amazing cultural landmarks," he said "Most Angelenos never go to see them."
