'Cloverfield,' the new horror film from "Lost" maestro J.J. ABRAMS , debuted in first place at the box office this weekend with $41 million.
LIZZY CAPLAN and MIKE VOGEL star in the film about a giant monster that attacks New York City.
KATHERINE HEIGL upped her box office clout as her romantic comedy, '27 Dresses,' debuted in second with a healthy haul of $22.4 million. The film, which also features JAMES MARSDEN and MALIN ACKERMAN , stars Heigl as a perpetual bridesmaid whose sister is engaged to the man she secretly loves.
