Jay Leno's Final Show Date Announced

In the wake of the rumors that Jay Leno is heading to ABC after he retires in 2009 (gossip he has so far denied), NBC announced today that the funnyman will officially step down from his "Tonight Show" hosting duties on May 29, 2009 with his replacement, Conan O'Brien , filling the role just days after on June 1. Meanwhile, Ben Silverman , Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, says the network is still in talks with Leno about staying at NBC after his "Tonight Show" run. "We are not agreeing that he is going to ABC," he said today. "We are still talking to Jay about staying at NBC beyond his deal. We made our decision and we are happy with it that the 'Tonight Show' will dominate in its timeslot." (link)
