'Jones' eyes box office bonanza

 
Film News: Film opens worldwide on Thursday -- Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" had no trouble conquering the Croisette as it made its world premiere in Cannes. Nearly two decades have passed since the last pic in the action-adventure franchise played, but awareness appears to be high even among younger generations who don't remember the swash-buckling Harrison Ford. Domestically, Paramount is giving the film a five-day opening frame, thanks to the Memorial Day holiday and the decision to bow today. If producer George Lucas and Par can get the kids in theaters seats along with adults, they have a shot at besting the previous record-holder for best domestic Memorial Day opener, last year's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
