Louise Errington: Syracuse University Wants To Be A Billionaire and Hollywood's Here To Help

With only $450 million to go Syracuse alums Jerry Stiller, Aaron Sorkin and event emcee Rob Light of CAA praised the university and its strong ties to the entertainment community at Universal Studio's Globe Theatre Sunday afternoon to celebrate the west coast's contribution to SU's $1 billion capital campaign. Sorkin hosts his own "modestly titled" Sorkin Week bringing SU drama students to LA which he described as a chance for them "to visit SU alumni out in LA, tour the studios, bus tables at Hooters and sit in traffic on the 405." Somewhat understating his significant contributions to the school, Sorkin joked that he hadn't always been the best of students, failing a pop quiz for not knowing the obvious tragic end of Willy Loman in A Death of a Salesman . The event featured a recreation of the giant Syracuse quad, complete with an elaborate set including miniature buildings and lest the alumni feel to warm in sunny LA, snow making machines.
