MTV, Huffington Post, Others Launch New Community Service Search Engine

All for Good program lets organizations and individuals customize volunteer listings. By Cara Alwill Photo: MTV Monday (June 22) marked the official launch of a United We Serve, a national community service initiative that is intended to help Americans find ways to do good and volunteer for the organization of their choice. And to help with that goal, a number of organizations pooled their resources to create an open-source application called All for Good ( AllforGood.org ). As part of President Obama's call to service, employees from Google, Craigslist Foundation, YouTube, FanFeedr and UCLA donated their time to create the first ever Craigslist-style search-engine application designed to help prospective volunteers find the right organization for them. Whether it be lending their graphic design skills to a budding Web site or offering up their wisdom as a mentor to an eager child, All for Good matches up volunteers with the appropriate outlet for them and allows users to share ...
