New in Movie Theaters this Weekend!

Animated Whos, abandoning mothers and ruthless psychos are just some of the colorful characters making their debuts on the big screen this weekend. First up, JIM CARREY returns to the pages of Dr. Seuss in 'Horton Hears a Who!,' but he's not such a Grinch in this animated flick. Carrey voices Horton, an elephant who struggles mightily to convince his neighbors that a microscopic community called "Whoville" exists on a spec of dust. STEVE CARELL chimes in as the Mayor of the Whos, and CAROL BURNETT lends her voice to a kangaroo. 110 minutes, Rated G. Decidedly less light-hearted is 'Sleepwalking,' in which CHARLIZE THERON plays a mother who abandons her tween daughter ( ANNASOPHIA ROBB ) into her uncle's ( NICK STAHL ) care. Can the little girl come to terms with her mean momma's desertion? DENNIS HOPPER and WOODY HARRELSON co-star. 100 minutes, Rated R . (link)
