ET has the details... A major animal-rights organization has named Lady O its "Person of the Year" for 2008. PETA awarded Oprah the honor, declaring that she uses her fame to help the less fortunate (including animals) and expose instances of animal cruelty. This year on her show, Oprah spotlighted puppy-mill abuses and poor conditions for animals on factory farms. She also encouraged a guest to give up meat for a vegan diet.
