Oprah Sets Her Sights on Puppy Mills
She plan's on dedicating Friday's show to her departed dog Sophie. This Friday's episode of "The OPRAH WINFREY Show," an investigation into puppy mill abuses, will be in memory of Oprah's beloved dog SOPHIE , who died of kidney failure last month, the Associated Press reports. The show is "for anybody anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog, or just cares about their basic right to humane treatment," Oprah says of the broadcast. Special correspondent LISA LING will reveal the "horrific" and "haunting" conditions endemic to some puppy mills. And though Oprah adopted her current three pooches from breeders, according to the AP , she vows to adopt from animal shelters in the future: "I would never, ever adopt another pet now without going to a shelter to do it.
