After initially being recorded as a single by Cissy Houston in 1972, Gladys Knight & the Pips took a stab at "Midnight Train to Georgia" in 1973--their second single since leaving Motown for Buddah Records. Malcolm Jamal Warner, Jurnee Smollett, Henry Simmons and Eva Marcille attended the 18th Annual NAACP Theater Awards press conference. Jurnee had a good year as she appeared in Denzel Washington film, "The Great Debators". Eva briefly appeared on the cast of "House of Payne" who stars her boyfriend Lance Gross. Henry and Eva used to be a item in the Black Hollywood dating scene. Anyhow this
