'Vampire Diaries' Star Gives Credit to 'Twilight'

You don't have to be very discerning to figure out that the popularity of vampire-themed series largely owes its existence to the huge following that Twilight has birthed.  With the CW recently coming up with The Vampire Diaries on its roster, one of its star Ian Somerhalder gives credit where it's due.  The Lost alumnus plays the bad vampire brother Damon Salvatore on the upcoming series. "[ Twilight ] is a huge phenomenon," he tells MTV News. "Quite possibly and inarguably, yes [we have a show because of it], so I'm not going to complain. I haven't seen [ Twilight ] yet, so I don't know how it compares, but yeah, it's good that they're around." (link)
