Zac Efron Waves Goodbye to 'High School Musical' to Star in a Thriller

His career skyrocketing, Zac Efron is proving to many of his fans that he is in control of his own life.  The High School Musical star has been steering clear of the genre that made him earn fame, and is heading straight for more challenging material.  According to The Hollywood Reporter , Zac has signed on to film an upcoming thriller. While the flick is still untitled, few details about it have been released.  It's under Mandate Pictures and will be written by Leslie Dixon.  If the name sounds familiar, it's because she has worked with Efron before.  In 2007, she wrote the screenplay for the hit musical Hairspray .  She's also the one behind Freaky Friday and The Thomas Crown Affair.
