We had the opportunity to speak with future rock superstars, Rival Sons . They are a band definitely worthy of watching. You guys classify your music as pure rock and roll. What does rock and roll mean to you? Scott: Unfortunately, rock & roll has become so convoluted these days ... there's plenty of good bands out there ... just not a lot of what we would classify as rock & roll. if the question is what is a 'technical definition' of rock & roll ? I'd say its the melting of blues, soul, and country, first off. And it's gotta have a little boogie, or make you wanna dance or pump your fist ... and most importantly, it's gotta be DANGEROUS. It's obviously tough to really encompass this whole concept of rock & roll ... but this is my quick answer. Jay: And rock & roll should be loud ... even when its quiet! But at this year's concert, Nick will be going rogue and playing with his new band and side project, Nick Jonas and the Administration. Nick, whose nickname is Mr. President, will be introduced by his older brothers when he takes the stage on December 2 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Other performers include the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Sugarland. LL Cool J will host the big show, which will be broadcast live on CBS. 'Sgt. Pepper' Comes to Rock Band

Scott Campbell: Crowdsourced band release "I've got nothing" single

A band composed of four teenage YouTubers has released an entirely-crowdsourced single. 19-year-old Charlie McDonnell joined forces with three other teenage YouTube users to take part in a BBC Switch project named 'ChartJackers', in which they are attempting to break in to the UK chart in an unorthodox style; they have no budget, no experience and have to crowdsource everything - musicians, producers and promotion. The song, I've got nothing, was a combined effort, with a number of users coming up with the lyrics. The group even managed to get help and advice from Fame Academy vocal coaches Carrie and David Grant. Last week, the Chartjackers launched a two-pronged social media attack on UK Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills. They encouraged Twitter users to send him Tweets and emails about their song in a bid to have it played on air. You can download 'I've got nothing' on iTunes from today.
