Patrick Stump Leaves Fall Out Boy, Not Really Worried About Fall Out Boy

Speaking exclusively with SPIN yesterday afternoon, Patrick Stump has declared that he is no longer part of Fall Out Boy . He expands his statement to say, “One way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons.” The band went on hiatus following a tour with Blink-182, and the band members have been working on new projects since. Stump claims he “doesn’t want anything to get in the way” of these efforts, including their original band. “I’m really not worried about Fall Out Boy,” Stump said. “I’m so psyched about where I’m at right now, recording this solo album.”

And now, he's wading into the fray. When MTV News caught up with Barker backstage at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (January 31) — minutes after he rocked the stage with Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake — we asked him for an update on Blink's follow up to their self-titled 2003 effort. It all started earlier this week, when he tweeted , "2011 is too far away. Gonna do all I can to have a Blink-182 album in 2010." And when MTV News caught up with him Thursday night in Los Angeles, he laid out how he plans to finish the album, which has been in the works for more than a year now. As it turns out, the first step is just getting everyone together in the same room.
