By Associated Press Chris Brown has received an "extremely favorable" report from probation officials overseeing his felony assault case, a judge said Thursday. Brown appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom to offer a judge his first progress report since being sentenced for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year. He talked and laughed with his lawyer before the hearing, which took less than 10 minutes. According to a judge, Chris Brown is complying with the terms of his probation. City News Service reports that a Los Angeles judge made the ruling Thursday. Last summer, a judge sentenced Brown to receive five years of probation and six months of community labor in Virginia (his home state), after he was charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna. He was also ordered not to contact Rihanna and keep 100 yards away from her -- 10 yards if they both attend a music biz event -- for the next five years.
