Nothing motivates like a kick in the ass. Well maybe a kick to the groin. If the movies have taught us anything it’s that inspiration can come in
all forms, and volumes, and it's usually embellished with manysemi-appropriate insults and curses. Regardless of how "motivating" these speeches may actually be to the recipient, for the rest of us they’re usually hysterical. Below is a list of some of the most memorable, and hilarious, movie “pep talks” from the past 10 years. Be inspired. (Oh and I mentioned there's plenty of swearing right?)
10. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (2008): Don’t let life get you down, or something. At least that’s the message Paul Rudd’s goofy surfer character is trying to get across in a sort of half-ass interpretation of a clichéd phrase.
3. "Wedding Crashers" (2005): You’ve gotta take advantage of those unexpected moments when opportunity presents itself, or so Vince Vaughn tries to explain to Owen Wilson in the timeless “Motorboat” exchange.
1. "Tropic Thunder" (2008): Some have claimed this as Tom Cruise's best work. It is pretty damn good—he has the stereotypical hot-tempered Hollywood producer sealed up tight as Les Grossman. He doesn’t mince words, and Grossman's ravenous rant aimed at Flaming Dragon is just one of several in this flick designed to initiate action through fear.
