After initially being recorded as a single by Cissy Houston in 1972, Gladys Knight & the Pips took a stab at "Midnight Train to Georgia" in 1973--their second single since leaving Motown for Buddah Records. This video of "Midnight Train to Georgia" (one of my favorite songs) is from last night's American Idol finale. Probably the best promotion for a summer movie I've seen in a while. It's hilarious.
