Box Office: Jonesing For Indiana
Published 5/21/2008 by Matt Bradshaw at Cinematical
... series, Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas join forces once again to regale the world with an adventure from the character who may damn well be the ass-kickingest action hero to ever grace the silver screen. Karen Allen also returns as Marion Ravenwood, a character we haven't seen since 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Indy's young sidekick is played by Shia LaBeouf. Why It Might Do Well: The film scored 79% at Rottentomatoes.com, Cinematical's own Scott Weinberg gave the film his ...

... Million for the first five days of release (Thursday through Memorial Day Monday).
Because of the Thursday release date, it is unlikely that Indy will break the All-Time Memorial Day weekend record of $139.8 million set by Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End last year. However, Crystal Skull has a chance to beat the $172.8 Million 5-day record set by Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The film is currently holding positive on Metacritic (66%) and Rotten Tomatoes (78%). ...

... After this past weekend, if I were to believe the more vocal reactions to the pre-screenings of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I'd think it was the biggest flop of the year. Yet, looking at the good ol' Tomatometer, it seems that Indy's getting an 80% approval rating. Hardly the debacle that many in the blogosphere are claiming it is. ...
Shut Up! It's an Indy Film!

... may end up with $25-30 million for Thursday. These kinds of numbers are going to put it in the top four all-time Thursday openers and if you look at the reviews you would think Indiana Jones IV lived up to its 19 year wait as it currently sits with a 79% rating at RottenTomatoes . However, I have a hard time believing Indy 4 is going to ever be considered a great film as it appears to be following in the footsteps of another film. A film that has the #1 all-time Thursday opening and also currently sits at 79% on RottenTomatoes. Come to think of it, this other film also ...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Whips Box Office w/ $126m

... Dave and Thomas both enjoyed the flick but agree that it's not the best of the series. The whole storyline of Area 51 and aliens is a little hard to swallow at times but if you're looking for your Indy fix than you won't care. It's just nice to see Harrison Ford back as Indiana Jones.
Movie Review - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

... LeBeouf or Ford, who both played their roles excellently, and exuded charisma and strong camaraderie towards each other. Indy might be losing steam, but Ford is not. Next time, Lucas might want to pen a better script, but Spielberg's stylish cuts and transitions of scenes make up for it. If there is a next time, maybe we'll see LeBeouf take up Ford's role. See this movie, but just remember that it probably won't be the Indy that you used to know - times have changed. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on Rotten Tomatoes

There's No Time To Love Dr Jones?

... and those of our fellow critics , there doesn't seem to be many others out there showing love for Dr Jones and his journey to the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull . We hear what you're saying about the script and the story (see below), and you have every right to be disappointed and pissed off, but didn't you at least have fun watching the old man be whip-smart for possibly the last time? Now that your expectations of it living up to the first three haven't been met, shouldn't you give the film a second look before declaring war, like Germany, on the Jones boys? When we first ...
