No Amount Of Ridiculous Praise Is Going To Derail My Enthusiasm For Wall-e
Published 6/26/2008 by Dan Hopper at Best Week Ever
I always grow a tad skeptical when I read a bunch of bombastically gushing reviews before a movie even comes out, but when that film is a Pixar film, I do the exact opposite, and automatically accept and believe everything positive that everyone says about the film (unless talking cars are in it.) Today, I perused the reviews of Wall-e to confirm that this axiom still holds true: "A film that’s both breathtakingly majestic and heartbreakingly intimate." Cool. What else? "There are no accolades too generous for the film that turns ...

Weekend Movie Forecast: Wall-E or Jolie
Published 6/27/2008 by John Del Signore at Gothamist
Looks like Pixar’s hit another home run with Wall-E, a movie about robot love on post-Apocalyptic earth. Jeffrey Wells calls it “a masterpiece of its type” but can’t stand the way director Andrew Stanton has been downplaying the movie’s ecological context in interviews. Wells writes, “It's a lie, of course – dis-informing of pig-trough moviegoers who might think twice about going to a ‘green’ movie that satirizes their lie-around, fat-ass lifestyle.” For those who trust only the accolades of print media, A.O. Scott deems ...
