mbsharona I found myself getting a little worked up over the idea John Ziegler presented in his book regarding Sarah Palin. I was very impressed with her address at the Republican convention, inspite of the fact I really wanted Hillary Clinton as a democratic canidate. When Sarah Palin and John McCain started their smut campaign against Barak -Obama, it struck a very negative cord with me. That's when I started listening to the composed way Barak Obama would respond. I remember one incident in particular where a baby was crying in the audience and she said, "Hear that, don't you love that sound? I do", and then she started making remarks that Barak Obama didn't like that sound because if he had his way their would not be those sounds. This is all because, unlike her, they, the now President and Joe Biden believe in pro-choice, not abortion per say, but pro-choice. That means the woman gets to decide what she wants to do with her body. I know Sarah Palin is not old enough to know about back alley abortions, but I am. Hopefully, we have come far enough along to let women decide what's best for themselves. Also, I don't think most parents today aspire for their 17 year old daughter to have a baby out of wedlock. I also know when you start bringing your baby out to some of your speaking engagements and make the baby part of your campaign, it is not in your best interests. The statement she hoped to make for pro-choice was see be like me, I walk the walk and talk the talk, but it did not resonate with many people, as it did not with me. Instead, it felt like a trick, a manipulation, as when she kept referring to herself as a hockey Mom. These are the reasons, only a few reasons, that made people take a better look. When she was interviewed by Katey Couric., as unfair as she may have thought the interview was, it started to raise the awareness to many more voters that she was the little cute darling of the republican party, but their was not the knowledge or the substance required of a vice president. I can remember when a certain male republican vice-president, Dan Quayle, was made fun of endlessly for not knowing how to spell potatoes. I do think it is a topic, because it was Sarah Palin, tthat took over the alotted time slot for the subject matter, because I do think Hillary was not treated nearly as well by the press, and she has the substance, knowledge, education and experience. I also think the press can get a hold of someone for one little misdameanor and make mincemeat of them, and not let up, and I would even venture to say women are the target many more times than men.
The View Makes John McCain, Everyone Else Really Nervous [Election]
Gawker —
... yesterday, and co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested he call himself "Jack Mack" to appeal to the youth, which means anyone under 80 as far as the elderly Republic presidential candidate is concerned. In another reminder that he is an angry old man, McCain was scolded for not hugging all the hosts like Barack Obama. He then made an extended joke about being twitchy and nervous, which made everyone watching a little twitchy and nervous on his behalf. Later, he said some political things, but the best part was the hugging and twitching, so it's after the jump. ...
