Ansari ( The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Parks and Recreation ) will write at least one of the projects with Jason Woliner (who is attached to direct the trio of projects). The first, Let’s Do This , is a road movie about guys who work for a motivational speaking company; the second is an untitled comedy about a disgraced cosmonaut; and the third is an untitled comedy inspired by Ansari’s role in Funny People.

Hot on the heels of the DVD release of Judd Apatow's Funny People this week comes an announcement about a spin-off movie based on one of the characters in the film. Previously we had heard Apatow joking about the possibility of a feature film based on Aziz Ansari's character Raaaaaaaandy, an obnoxious, Dane Cook-esque stand up comedian. Now it appears that this is no longer a joke and it is moving forward with both Judd Apatow and Universal Pictures backing the project.
