Lil Wayne, who’s already had an extraordinary year in music thus far, leads this year’s awards with 12 nods, followed by Kanye West with 7 nods and Jay-Z with 6 nods. Music mogul, Russell Simmons, will be honored with the coveted “I Am Hip Hop” Icon Award which is presented to an individual who during their career has made exceptional contributions to the hip hop community.
