Beverly Hills Cop 4 Will Be A Kids Movie
Published 6/3/2008 at Cinema Blend News
Beverly Hills Cop 4 Will Be A Kids Movie I have a hard time even typing this up. It just seems too stupid to be true. Alright, here we go. Beverly Hills Cop 4 , fourth in a franchise of rated-R movies starring Eddie Murphy, will be a kids movie. No that is not a joke. God I wish it was. Brett Ratner, who is in negotiations to direct the film, tells MTV : 10-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids dont really know the old Beverly Hills Cop. So its an opportunity to make it new for kids. Take a second to go back and read that quote again, after you vomit. When it was ...
Beverly Hills Cop 4: Ratner Haters Are Gonna LOVE This

... see him retaining ANY of the spirit of the original and making this PG... so they must be aiming for that magical and ever-popular PG-13 rating.
The only positive I can think of is that Live Free or Die Hard still managed to be pretty fun even with the PG-13. Of course that doesn't really have any direct bearing on this movie... so I don't even know why I mentioned it. :-)

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Set To Be PG-13
Published 6/4/2008 by john@themovieblog.com (John Campea) at The Movie Blog
It appears that Beverly Hills Cop 4 may be PG-13. We get the scoop from our friends at MTV:
“We’re trying to revitalize the franchise. He was one of my favorite movie characters of all-time, Axel Foley, by far the coolest movie character,” he said. “It’s an honor to be able to direct another ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ film.” Each of the previous three “Cop” movies were rated R, and Murphy’s machine gun mouth, which spewed expletive after expletive in those days, was as much a part of the character as anything else. Surely, his swearing wouldn’t be lost in ...

... From bad ideas for adaptations to bad sequel ideas: MTV says “Beverly Hills Cop 4″ will star Eddie Murphy, be directed by Brett Ratner, and possibly be a PG movie aimed at kids. Y’ know, like “Dr. Doolittle” and “Daddy Day Care.” No Axel F-bombs? I have a feeling they took the Ratner quote the wrong way and are trying to stir up controversy. ...

... . "Ten-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids don’t really know the old Beverly Hills Cop," Ratner told MTV.
