Twilight Box Office Sales Biggest Ever for a Female Director

Director Catherine Hardwicke at the Los Angeles premiere of “Twilight”
“Twilight” took in $70.6 million at the box office in it’s debut weekend, making it the biggest opening ever for a female director.
Director Catherine Hardwicke is thrilled about the success of the film and hopes it will inspire other women and young girls to pursue a career in filmmaking.
Twilight’s opening beat the previous record for a female director by a whopping $29.5 million. In 1998 Mimi Leder’s “Deep Inpact” took in $41.1 million.

The actress has been married to Howard Ruby since 1986. She is an anthropologist and real estate investor. Her husband is a founding partner and chairman of Oakwood Worldwide, formerly R&B Enterprises, a provider of corporate housing.

Fire destroyed Soldier Mountain Ski Resort in Fairfield, Idaho on Monday. The 50 year old landmark, co-owned by actor Bruce Willis, had just closed for the season when fire swept through the property.
According to Camas County Chief Deputy Brian Miller, the blaze started at 7:30 a.m. and destroyed the lodge and a ski rental building nearby. The resort employs 50 people during the ski season. Fairfield Mayor David Hanks called the fire a real blow to the community. He stated that area businesses count on the ski resort to help bring customers into the area during the winter months.
