Breaking News: Office 2.0 D.O.A.?
Oh No They Didn't! —
... Still, this may ultimately prove to be a good thing. NBC could have easily rushed some half-assed show onto the air and slapped an Office label on it. But doing so would have weakened the franchise, perhaps irreparably. In other words, it looks like creativity won out over commerce. Woo-hoo! Agree with me? Or are you just SO warped that the idea of a half-assed Office clone actually APPEALS to you? Sound off below! -- Additional reporting by Lynette Rice Source
The ‘Office’ Spinoff Dead Before Arrival
Comedy Centric —
I kid you not.
If you were dreading the thought of having to endure a mini-version of NBC’s hit sitcom The Office in the near future, your wishes that the project would implode have reportedly been granted.
Instead of an official spinoff à la Private Practice from Grey’s Anatomy, for example, The Office’s executive producer Greg Daniels is rumored to be working on putting together an entirely new and different show that just might also be set on the ...
Forget the "Office" Spin-Off
TV Fodder —
Office Fodder Forget the "Office" Spin-Off apoehler.jpg We've all been waiting and wondering about the new "Office" spin-off. So much time wasted! Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello says that the plan to clone the show has basically been scrapped. Apparently, no one could come up with a strong enough concept. Instead of half-assing, executive producer Greg Daniels has moved on, and plans to build a comedy around "Saturday Night Live" regular Amy Poehler. Disappointed? I'm not sure. Gingers is the Watchword —
... The Office Spin-off is a Bust...Probably - EW.com has a new blogger called Michael Ausiello. Apparently, he's very well known the the pop-culture blogging community and used to write for tvguide.com (I don't like him. Mainly because I should have his job). Ausiello reports The Office spin-off is a no go. I am mildly bummed, but really, not so much. ...
NBC execs offer details on Jay Leno, Amy Poehler's non-'Office' spinoff
Hollywood Insider —
... In other news, NBC cochairman Ben Silverman confirmed that Greg
Daniels (The Office) is developing a new comedy — not a spinoff of The
Office — for SNL vet Amy Poehler that'll bow this spring. That means
the coveted time slot after the Super Bowl — which Silverman said in May
would serve as the launching pad for the planned Office spinoff —
is
now open; NBC has no plans, for now, on how to fill it. "Amy is
pregnant, so it'll be tough for her to turn a show around," Silverman
said. "It's much more likely that the show will launch in March. ...
Wanted: Clever NBC show to follow Super Bowl
Hollywood Insider —
... Now that the much-anticipated Office spin-off is on the back-burner while writer Greg Daniels develops a comedy for Amy Poehler, NBC has to find a show to follow the Super Bowl on Feb 1. A new episode of The Office seems like the most obvious choice, but far more enlightening alternatives may exist elsewhere. To wit: The cast of 30 Rock had previously considered whether to pitch a live telecast after it successfully performed an episode at New York's Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre last winter. Says a network source, "It's still unclear at this ...
