That opinion aside, Springsteen is said to be interested in hiring a researcher to work with him on the project. Insiders tell the paper that a bidding war could easily surpass the $8 million advance Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards landed from Little Brown for his memoir, which was twice the $4 million Broadway Books ponied up for Eric Clapton's autobiography.
