... classes either don't care, or are actively complicit in the corruption and cynicism involved. Sorrentino's film sheds a little more light on the higher political reaches. It is avowedly about the notorious politician Giulio Andreotto, and using Sorrentino's trademark stylisations of picture, sound, music and mood, creates a Jonsonian masque of paranoia, wit and despair. Both are outstanding films, and both will be must-see releases. Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Best Director award for Three Monkeys was something that's hard to quarrel with.
