Chris Messina to star in ‘Devil,’ based on M. Night Shyamalan story

Chris Messina will star in Universal’s horror-thriller film Devil , Variety reports . The film is based on an M. Night Shyamalan story (scripted by 30 Days of Night’s Brian Nelson) and will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle. Messina ( Julie and Julia, Vicky Cristina Barcelona ) will play a recently sober detective. The film, part of a slate of genre films called Night Chronicles, starts shooting in Toronto on Oct. 26.

Chris Messina ("Julie & Julia," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona") will star in the horror thriller "Devil" for Universal Pictures says Variety.
Based on a story by M. Night Shyamalan, Messina will play a sobered-up homicide detective. Further story details from the script by Brian Nelson ("30 Days of Night") are being kept under wraps.
Shyamalan, Drew Dowdle and Trish Hogmann are producing while "Quarantine" helmer John Erick Dowdle will direct. Shooting kicks off in Toronto from October 26th to December 16th.
