Men in Black 3 Script in the Works by Tropic Thunder Writer Etan Cohen
/Film —
... good people.
Strangely enough, I’m actually sort of excited for a third Men in Black film. I loved the original when it first came out (admittedly, haven’t revisited it in years), and I think the series deserves a better successor than what we got with the sequel. The concept is undoubtedly ripe for further exploration.

... Columbia Pictures is sticking with what it knows and bringing back Men in Black. Etan Cohen, who wrote Tropic Thunder, will write the script. There are no deals to bring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones on board but Variety doesn't think Columbia would hire a writer if they weren't involved. Of course, Will Smith is now 41 years old so they might need a younger agent to run down a cephlapoid on foot. [Variety] ...

Men In Black 3 gets a writer
Total Film News —
Sony is ramping up the development of its new Men In Black film, with Tropic Thunder co-writer Etan Cohen scribbling away on the script. The solid news about a scribe working on the screenplay means that the studio is serious about trying to get a third film made in the alien-tracking franchise. But there's still the small matter of getting stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back on board, with both men A) busy and B) expensive. Still, it's more likely that Sony will want to get them to return (you can almost hear the dump trucks of money revving up on the studio lot) rather than trying to launch a new ...

... , the write who brought us Tropic Thunder and Sherlock Holmes, delivers a strong script then maybe Men in Black would be worth it. Certainly the plot foundations suggest a franchise that could go on for a good while yet, after all an agency that deals with alien immigration on Earth could have an unlimited series of stories coming out of it. Interestingly the article from Variety makes a comparison to another franchise that the studio have been trying to recover, Ghostbusters, not an entirely successful or simple task so far, and one that has had a ...

... II (which Colombia is trying to similarly resurrect, with even more conceptual issues to deal with). Be that as it may, the fact that Etan Cohen, writer of Tropic Thunder and Idiocracy (and short film My Wife Is Retarded - where can I see that?) is genuine clever and funny makes this unnecessary move easier to swallow. I wish him the best of luck making this work, and if it does come to fruition, hope I don't have to neuralize another sequel out of my brain. Source | Variety

Writer Found For ‘Men In Black 3′
Screen Rant —
... Variety is reporting that Columbia Pictures (which Sony owns) has tapped Cohen to pen the script, but beyond that no deals have been made for either Smith or Jones to reprise their roles. Although I’d be very surprised if the studio didn’t have talks going on with the two stars to come back for another if they’ve already got the screenwriter sorted out. Unfortunately the studio is currently staying tight-lipped as to the direction they’re going with the story of MIB 3. Let the ...
