The heavy weight bout to take place on the 4th of November finally has its pair of marquee names confirmed. Hopefully, during the forthcoming six months-worth of trash talk between the Obama/McCain camps, the media won't lose sight of the person who'll be giving up the oval office seat. What these two candidates are fighting for is someone else's huge mess and come October, Oliver Stone's ... [link]

Poster For Oliver Stone's W

Poster For Oliver Stone's W The idea of Oliver Stone making a biopic out of an unpopular sitting president is pretty weird, so I guess it should be no surprise that the movie’s first teaser poster is pretty weird too. A bigger version of the poster to your right can be found over at ioncinema . As a teaser, I’m not sure how effective it is. You’d have to get pretty close to it to make any sense of it, though I guess the letter “W” has become a symbol for Bush, at least it was back when people weren’t too ashamed to put it on the car. It’s kind of like Superman’s “S”, except ...

First Look: Oliver Stone's W Teaser Poster
Published 6/5/2008 by Kevin Powers at FirstShowing.net
... , one of the more talked about films this year will certainly be Oliver Stone's W. As filming continues in Louisiana for a quick October release, we get our first look at some of the artwork behind the project from IONCINEMA.com. In discussing the film, Stone has often said it will be a fair portrayal of the 43rd President. Seeing this material and the many "Bush-isms" is pretty much the writing on the wall for how this will pan out. That's not to say Oliver's previous statements were wrong; portraying the facts can certainly be considered a fair ...

Oliver Stone's 'W' Teaser Poster

... have a pronunciation key, so everyone knows how funny it is how Bush pronounces 'W'--make it sort of like a dictionary entry. While we're at it, also throw something up about what an unlikely president he is. And maybe a quote--one of those goofy things Bush is known for saying. Two quotes, maybe? A dozen--let's go with a dozen. Is there still room for a picture of Bush wearing a dunce cap, and using a bomb as a pacifier? No? OK, we'll save that. I just hope this isn't too subtle." Trendspotting: Brownface, bags, polibiopics.

... Meanwhile, the recently revealed "W." poster (subtitle: "The Improbable President"), which lists out G.W. misspeakings and malapropisms, seems to indicate that Stone's film will be a sharper-edged than his earlier sallies of "fair, true portrait" have augured. ...

‘W’ Gets Satirical Poster, New Cast Member [In Production]

... Oliver Stone satire. And because I’d rather vote for Barack Obama over Bush, that doesn’t make Obama a better film character. Far from it, I think this is going to be a fun film. I mean, come on, they have Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld—“Put the WMDs in the basket. Put the f*cking WMDs in the basket.” Sound Off: Love him or hate him, you have to admit he’s entertaining.
