PETER BERG IS OFF DUNE
CHUD.com - A Movie Website and SO MUCH MORE. - Articles - News —
[image] A website called Pajiba (beats me) is reporting that Peter Berg has left the new adaptation of Dune , and my sources confirm that he is in fact gone from the project. Berg, whose plate is extraordinarily full, has an opportunity to do some dream projects at Universal and something had to be sacrificed. That something was Muad'dib. So who is on board? Pajiba says that Neil Marshall and Neill Blomkamp have both been contacted; I guess they're working through the 'Neil' section of their Rolodex. If I were a betting man I would put money on this project now beginning to ...

So, it pains me today to bring news from Pajiba that Berg has, evidently, left the project.
Here is a direct quote from the ...

... set to direct it. Now I do warn you, this is a rumour from a blog source and there's no other confirmation, personally I'm struggling to believe it as it would be pouring out of the trades right now if it were true. Well we can wait a few days and see, for if this is the news then it's pretty big for the proposed Dune adaptation because the proposed names are definitely going to be delivering something a few hundred miles away from Peter Berg 's Dune. ... see the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries and thought it was decent. All I remember is giant space worms. 2) I hate "Twilight," but as long as they don't make Pattison glitter, I wouldn't mind him starring in it if it does happen. 3) Berg is all right, but Blompkamp and Marshall seem like better choices for this thing, with the obvious favorite being Mr. "District 9" 4) Screw it, get me to direct and I'll just splice in shots of those "Beetlejuice" worms and call it a day. 7 Directors Who Could Handle ‘Dune’
Film School Rejects —
With the riveting news that Peter Berg is hopping off Dune and Paramount’s search for a new director comes the names Neill Blomkamp and Neil Marshall being tossed around. Clearly, Paramount is contractually obligated to hire a director named Neil (which explains why Berg probably left).
However, we here at FSR are never content with the obvious. Instead, we’d like to throw out a few directorial talents we think could turn the new adaptation of Dune and make it something special. Hopefully, a few of the names will ...
