Estelle Getty: Golden Girls Sophia Petrillo Dies (Photos)

Estelle Getty, three days shy of 85 years, died at her home in Los Angeles early today. The actress starred in many films but is best known for her role as Sophia Petrillo on The Golden Girls sitcom that ran from 1985-1992, also starred Beatrice Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan.

Bitten and Bound —   Beatrice Arthur, the actress from hit television shows “Maude” and “The Golden Girls” died today at age 86. Arthur, who had been battling cancer, died peacefully in her Los Angeles home with her family by her side, according to her personal assistant. Arthur is survived by her sons and two granddaughters.
