... an almost koan-like vague utterance from one of the creators of this film, so here goes. J.J. Abrams says it would be a "challenge" to recast Khan Noonien Singh, but no more so than recasting Kirk, Spock and the others was. And he adds: "While I don't want to approach the second film as a remake of episodes we've seen in the past... nothing is off limits in terms of what we're discussing." So it won't be a straight-up remake of an original series episode, except that it might be. [MTV] ...

J.J. Abrams Doesn't Rule Kahn Out For The Star Trek Sequel
Latino Review —
... here. In my opinon (which I know you guys love to hear oh so much) they should stay away from Kahn or any other recognizable story for the sequel. They already established that the cast is fantastic, rivaling the chemistry of the original crew. They already established that this is a whole new "Trek" world, and they should just go with that, use the themes and exploration aspects of the original series as a springboard, and create something entirely new.
