... he might not even want to make. Reeves does confirm that the sequel to the smash-hit giant monster movie is on hold and that resurrecting the beast ultimately it depends on if they find a good idea to make it worthwhile. Fingers crossed as we were big fans of Paramount's film here at B-D. Click here for the full interview, which is quite lengthy and reveals a bit more.

... then I think we'll do it." Reeves also got the opportunity to talk about his latest project, The Invisible Woman. Don't go expecting to see Susan Storm running across the screen again just yet though, The Invisible Woman has been described as a 'Hitchcockian' woman who's drowning in suburbia and has turned to a life of crime to support her family. Written by Reeves, the project certainly sounds interesting. You can watch the interview in full over at Collider.com.

... Cloverfield 2 - Unfortunately this is the bad news of the bunch today. Cloverfield's director Matt Reeves also spoke to Collider and told them that unfortunately Cloverfield 2 is on hold. He confirms that they promised only to make a sequel if they could find a story that was as fresh and unique as the first Cloverfield and right now they haven't come up with that. He does say that they do have a couple of exciting ideas, but it's in the very early stages and it's not clear if they'll develop into anything. ...

... Instead he's really concentrating on his Invisible Woman which he calls a Hitchcockian thriller about a "soccer mom" who leads a double life by robbing banks when the kids are at school. He does reveal that they have some ideas for a Cloverfield sequel, and that they've discussed making it from someone elses perspective and using more cameras, but the real issue there for them is to make something that feels as fresh and as exciting as the original did when it came along. Over at Collider through ...

... and a bunch of unsympathetic yuppie characters who are all now (spoiler alert!) dead, but surely J.J. Abrams — who, we'll remind you, was able to sustain Lost's entire third season without having a single idea — can come up with something, right? Couldn't the monster just attack a bunch of professional cinematographers this time? We'd be pretty compelled and excited if we could watch a Cloverfield movie without throwing up.

Cloverfield 2 On Hold
Published 6/27/2008 at Cinema Blend News
Cloverfield 2 On Hold I really enjoyed Cloverfield when it hit theaters, but Ive quickly realized the movie has little replay value. Once you know the story, theres really not a ton more to take in. Because of that, all of the talk about a Cloverfield sequel wasnt something I was too interested in. Its a cool one-shot story, but why kill it with more of the same? Matt Reeves, director of Cloverfield , now says plans for a sequel are on hold. He told Collider that the possibility of a sequel would be based on finding a good idea something as fresh as the concept ...
Cloverfield 2 On Hold

Matt Reeves gave the following Cloverfield update to to the good people over at Collider, and the word is wait.
While talk of a sequel has been all over cyberspace since the movie first came out, based on what he said last night…I think it’s safe to assume it isn’t happening. Of course, he did say if they came up with a great idea he’d do it, but he’s moving forward with his next project “The Invisible Woman,” so I think “Cloverfield 2″ will be left alone. And I think it’s for the best.
