... if not totally original). Right now the film is getting lost in the big marketing pushes of the big blockbusters… and that’s fine… but this will be one I’ll be at opening night for sure. As a side note, despite the fact that Angelina Jolie looks like she’s in desperate need of a hamburger, I’ve never seen her look sexier than she does in this flick. MMMmmmm.

Matthew Broderick Is A Sad Sack Again In Finding Amanda

... , this new trailer for Finding Amanda, Rescue Me creator Peter Tolan's directorial debut, looks charming and not at all like the movie being marketed. The movie stars Matthew Broderick doing his likable henpecked guy character, which is fine because he's the best (the classic bathtub cleanup scene from Election comes to mind). He's a producer with a gambling problem who goes to Vegas to rescue his 20-year-old niece (Brittany Snow) from prostitution in order to redeem himself in the eyes of his wife (Maura Tierney). ...

... for the comedy Finding Amanda. The film has Matthew Broderick playing a compulsive gambler whose marriage is on the rocks because of that gambling. He finds out his 20-year old niece has become a hooker in Las Vegas and so, to prove himself to his wife, he goes to try and get her into rehab. Of course Vegas is the worst place for a guy like him so things don’t necessarily go as planned. ...

You know, if someone told me Ferris Bueller grew up to have a gambling problem, I'd totally believe it. Which is probably why I watched the trailer for Finding Amanda with a little smile. "Clumsily mashing up Leaving Las Vegas and Hardcore, Finding Amanda follows TV show writer and alcoholic compulsive gambler Taylor (Matthew Broderick) as he travels to Sin City to track down his whoring niece Amanda (Brittany Snow)," writes Nick Schager in Slant. The film's "inability to find a consistent groove that might best utilize its appealing leads... is secondary to its overarching unimaginativeness."
And in the other corner, Ella Taylor in the Voice: "By keeping the ...
