... Norton and Universal, along with Hulk’s Marvel Studios, are likely feuding over money after Norton was handed a script from X-Men 3 writer Zak Penn, but then went ahead to rewrite a good portion of it, adding dialogue in many places and “worked on the character of the Hulk’s alter ego Bruce Banner to make him more human.” And while Penn undoubtedly shaped the film, Norton is, we’re imagining, taking credit for the other nuts and bolts. ...

Why is Edward Norton not promoting the new Hulk movie?

Interesting stuff! Fox: Friday's premiere of "The Incredible Hulk" should prove big box office numbers, but not with any help from star Edward Norton. Norton, I'm told, has slipped off to a desert island rather than do publicity for the movie he stars in and nominally wrote. I say nominally because there's been a dispute right along about who did what on "Hulk." The screenplay is credited to "X-Men 3" writer Zak Penn, who definitely wrote the original draft and mapped out the movie. But wasn't it only last July 2007 that Norton boasted of writing the ...

... . Now without any other recourse, Marvel Studios is putting secret plot details and cameos in the trailers to get audiences to see the film. FOX News reports: ...Norton fell out with Marvel and Universal and declined to do much publicity. This left the bulk of it to co-star Liv Tyler. Interestingly, Norton is not signed to do the typical two sequels to this "Hulk," although Tyler is and so, I'm told, is director Louis Leterrier. The reason for Norton holding out is likely a money issue....Universal is using Robert Downey Jr.'s surprise appearance in "Hulk" as Tony Stark aka ...

Was Edward Norton Right About the Editing in ‘The Incredible Hulk’?

... "The origin story, dwelled upon at great length in [Ang Lee's] Hulk, is here telescoped into a neat little montage that accompanies the opening titles," writes A.O. Scott in today's Times. "[W]ithout a vivid, complex character at the center of the movie, even the more inspired bits … feel perfunctory and familiar." Should Marvel have listened to Norton? It sort of looks like it!

After a fairly predictable go of things last week, we face a pair of high-profile releases that couldn't be further apart in their critical and commercial futures, a nifty and thoroughly unnerving art-house project (hint: wheelchair sex) and a surplus of worthwhile DVD debuts for the shut-ins among us. As always, our opinions are our own and, of course, exceedingly tasteful and accurate. We are always looking out for you! ... . And although accuracy-challenged scribe Roger Friedman reports that Ed Norton "slipped off to a desert island rather than do publicity for the movie he stars in and nominally wrote," the cantankerous diva appeared in a Hulk promotional parody skit that aired on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Show. And while Norton brought the funny, he didn't resist the urge to get in a potshot at action-averse auteur Ang Lee. ...
