Fox officially making Hitman 2
Total Film News —
There have been recent rumour rumbles that Fox was planning to re-visit the world of Hitman. But now it's officially in development. “Surely”, you say, “the first one didn’t set the box office alight on account of, er, not being that good.” Well, you’d be right on one of those (it actually made $100 million off a relatively cheap $30 million budget), but it looks like the studio wants to plug away anyhow. Kyle Ward has been hired to pen a script that will find the main character – baldy assassin Agent 47 – at a low point in life with a quest to bring himself back up. ...
Fox gears up for 'Hitman 2'
The Screening Log —
Xavier Gens' 2007 big-screen adaptation of "Hitman" pretty much sucked, but the film picked up around $100 million on a $24 million budget, and that's reason enough for Fox to go after a sequel.
Indeed, the studio is prepping "Hitman 2," with Kyle Ward set to write the script. Ward's credits include the upcoming “Kane & Lynch,” also based on a video game.
Variety reports the follow-up will borrow story elements from the upcoming "Hitman 5" game, due in stores next year. The story line of the film will follow Agent 47 as he tries to reclaim his title of feared assassin. ...
Fox is Making ‘Hitman 2′
Backseat Cuddler —
hitman A sequel the the video game movie Hitman is coming from Fox. Studio has hired screenwriter Kyle Ward to write a script for the movie that catches title character, Agent 47, at a low point. He must build himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world’s most feared assassin. The film will contain story elements from “Hitman 5,” the upcoming Eidos vidgame that will be released in late 2010. I really didn’t find the first one all that engaging, but hopefully they can mold a better story out of the new one. I’m not holding my breath for this one. Source: Variety POSTED BY: Nick Wolfwood Related ...
Hitman 2: Screenwriter Hired
Reel Movie News —
Despite Hitman being universally panned by critics, the movie adaptation of the popular video game did gross $100 million. So obviously it comes as no surprise that Twentieth Century Fox is looking to extract a little more money out of that cash cow.
The studio has hired screenwriter Kyle Ward to begin to write the followup to the 2007 film. The sequel will rejoin the title character, Agent 47, at a low point. The movie will follow him as he builds himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world's most feared assassin.
The film will contain elements from ...
'Hitman 2' - Another Sequel Nobody Wants
Cinematical —
I may have to hold my nose for this one. Hitman 2 is in development, says Variety, and 20th Century Fox has hired Kyle Ward to write a script that incorporates elements from "Hitman 5," a video game due for release in late 2010. So a movie sequel will be cribbing from a video game sequel, and more crappy product will fill the corporate pipeline.
Reportedly, the first Hitman was made for $30 million. It grossed $40 million in the US and $60 million overseas, according to Box Office Mojo. The overseas total and DVD sales must have pushed it well into the black, ensuring that a sequel would ...
‘Hitman 2′ Coming, No Thank You
Unrealitymag —
If you needed further proof that any movie that makes money will get a sequel greenlighted, here you go. The original Hitman cost $30 million and grossed $100 million, so despite the fact it was the worst video game movie since Doom, it’s getting a sequel. The movie is being penned by Kyle Ward, who has written the film adaptation of another game film, Kane and Lynch, which was a terrible game to begin with. But hey, the movie has Bruce Willis.
I can’t imagine that Timothy Olyphant will be back as Agent 47, unless they throw a huge chunk of change at him. Though I have no idea why they wood, as any buff ...
