I am – Hercules!! NBC is so excited about the first six episodes of Josh Shwartz’ second season of “Chuck,” it just decided to expand that second season from 13 to 22 episodes. The second season doesn’t begin airing until Sept. 29. A network will typically wait till the ratings come in before ordering a “back nine,” but NBC is apparently convinced “Chuck” is among the least likely to falter this season. NBC series not yet granted a back-nine order include “Knight Rider,” “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Life,” “Lipstick Jungle” and “Kath & Kim.” Find all of Variety’s story on the matter here . Thanks to all for the birthday wishes both via email and Facebook (I had a wonderful birthday dinner at Comme Ca and saw Ali Larter and Amy Smart); it was definitely a birthday to remember. NBC has gone ahead and ordered the back nine episodes of action-comedy series Chuck a month before the start of its sophomore season. As all Chuck fans know, the first season of the genre-busting series was cut short by the writers strike last season and the Peacock only aired 13 episodes. The rare good TV news that comes out of the tower on the Universal lot up there in what you might as well call South North Hollywood (despite the tourist trade and the only Dalt's Restaurant in Southern California (great fried things with cheese).
