I don’t think I even realized how big time an actor or how much I liked Heath Ledger was until I heard the news he was found dead just a few minutes ago.
According to CNN.com, the 28 year old Ledger was found dead in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the result of an apparent drug overdose. A housekeeper went to wake him up for an appointment, but he wasn’t conscious and was pronounced at 3:30pm EST.

Heath Ledger passed away yesterday. I know that death is a reality of life and a celebrity dying shouldn't elicit more response than anyone else but this news saddened me deeply. Ledger is only 28 and is a father. As an actor I have an immense respect for him, his talent is great and from all accounts of those who've crossed paths with him, he's also a good person. Moviegoers will surely miss Ledger but not as much as his family and friends. My sympathies go out to all who knew him. Here's another short tribute with some more information if you're interested.

successful modern box office success when you consider its competition both in
and out of theaters and the fast turnaround for DVD releases) officially comes
out December 9th, and it will no doubt be the biggest DVD release ever. I don't
