The cable news channels MSNBC and CNBC have devoted large chunks of their regular programming to coverage of the Olympic Games in Beijing. The ratings for MSNBC and CNBC have soared since the cable channels started showing Olympics events, Bill Carter reported in today’s New York Times . What about NBC Universal’s other cable channels? In a report to clients today, the media buying firm Magna Global said that the USA and Oxygen channels are also benefiting from the Summer Games broadcasts. Oxygen, which was acquired by NBC last year, started showing gymnastics highlights and equestrian events on Monday. “Ratings were strong for the network, on par with its highest rated prime time series,” the Magna report said. ...
