Hillary and the Invisible Women | Newsweek Politics: Campaign 2008 Links4
Hillary Clinton 's run-up to the Texas and Ohio primaries was the political equivalent of Hell Week for a Navy SEAL. At least it felt that way for the reporters who'd been participating in this killing Democratic marathon since the Iowa caucuses in January and now, dosed up on Airborne and bad coffee, were covering what was being billed as Hillary's last stand. As a campaign virgin who joined ... (link)

We Hate Hillary Because We Hate Old Women [Tina Brown]
Published 3/10/2008 by Ryan Tate at Gawker
Former New Yorker editor Tina Brown may be projecting just a bit in her Newsweek dispatch from the Hillary Clinton campaign. A Clinton campaigner in Ohio told Brown that there had been an "outpouring" of female support for the Democratic presidential candidate because of how "she was being treated by the media... we saw this as an attack of misogyny that was trying to beat her down." Brown, 55, then took this quote and extrapolated it into an argument about how women over 50 in America today are invisible, just like blacks ...

How Things Work (Or Don't) [Newsweaklies]
Published 3/10/2008 by Pareene at Gawker
We realize that former mag queen Tina Brown is still a "name" and Hillary Clinton's last week was a compelling story (resembling though it did so many of her previous weeks) but isn't there a wee bit of favoritism involved in a newsweekly running a front page story on a presidential candidate written by a woman who needs that candidate to become president in order for her forthcoming book to actually sell? [Newsweek] ...

Formidable Females Weigh In On Hillary, Women In New Newsweek [Hear Them Roar]
Published 3/10/2008 by Jessica at Jezebel
... , pre-teen meth abusers... even that elusive centaur demographic. (Joke.) Sound familiar? It should! After all, the what-Hillary-means-to-women story has been done to death. But Newsweek does have some worthwhile nuggets, starting with Tina Brown's insightful essay about boomer women and how they are ignored by America's "relentless youth culture." Of course, the former New Yorker editrix can't resist planting a few underminery jibes at Hillary -- she calls Clinton "inspiringly pedestrian" -- but, by in large, Brown is sympathetic to Hillary's plight as whipping girl in a ...

Peggy Drexler: Will Hillary Ever Be One Of The Cool Kids?
Published 3/24/2008 by Peggy Drexler at Huffington Post Entertainment Blog
... Younger women don't like her because she is one of the over 50, empty nested, cohort of women prone to experiencing their own private summers who Tina Brown recently profiled in a Newsweek column. "Written on their forehead everyday," she wrote," is "Invisible Woman" ... women who "find themselves steadfastly dissed and ignored." To a certain generation, then, she's still not one of the cool kids. ...
