At the opposite end of the spectrum are the bands that you admire but that you wish didn't flog their wares using such a bloody awful calling card. Yes, I'm From Barcelona , I'm talking to you. ... cheer. "Things got out of hand," Lundgren sings wispily, as a softer section of piano, acoustic guitar, and rumbling drums builds into another huge chorale along the lines of ABBA-informed newcomers Music Go Music. "You have to take some chances, I suppose," I'm From Barcelona sing, finding a lesson in all this, before a synth-spangled interlude and abrupt false ending. Today, Barcelona: tomorrow, the dark side of the moon?

New I'm From Barcelona - "Music Killed Me" (& "Paper Planes" Video)
Stereogum —
... , it's not an M.I.A. cover. You'll have that reaffirmed in the song's video, where mustached Emanuel Lundgren settles into an elevator, brushes his teeth, shaves, and otherwise preps for a new day before witnessing a couple going at it, an old guy blowing his horn, and a kid beating his drum. In turn, Lundgren finds a fews ways clear his own head before getting off. I’m From Barcelona Streaming ‘Who Killed Harry Houdini?’ CD
popdirt.com —
... Emanuel Lundgren of I’m From Barcelona checked in with the Swedish indie pop group’s MySpace friends on Wednesday (September 17) with the following bulletin: I remember when I was about 13 or 14 years and worked one week in a small music store for free, only because I knew that they would give me a record (Yes - I was young, dumb and poor). The kind man in the store gave me a copy of “Achtung Baby” one week before its release. I felt very special. Now you can feel special too! Our complete new album ‘Who Killed Harry Houdini?’ will be streamed at our MySpace page until ...

... the album: I m From Barcelona have great difficulty portraying themselves as anything other than happy-go-lucky Swedes. Granted, the main problem with Let Me Introduce My Friends was that it set its phasers to cute and never changed emotionally. But Who Killed Harry Houdini? is beset by lukewarm, heart-on-sleeve ballads that spoil the album and sub-form slices of pop that never take off. *** Band: http://www.imfrombarcelona.com Label: http://www.mute.com Audio: http://www.myspace.com/imfrombarcelona

... Imaginary guns are so hot right now with all the good reviews Gran Torino is getting. While Clint Eastwood isn’t doing much for race relations with his last film, he is paving the way for highly conceptual music videos that read more like short films. The latest single off the new I’m From Barcelona album Who Killed Harry Houdini? is called Gunhild. Directed by Sascha Karner, the video successfully pulls off somber, black, white and artsy. The video is about “a young boy’s journey into an imaginary world filled with newfound ...
Video of the Day #4: I’m From Barcelona feat. SoKo - Gunhild
There Goes The Fear —
When we saw I’m From Barcelona last November we were so exhausted we didn’t have a chance to write up a review post gig. However, one of our highlights (amongst all the bouncing balls, crowd surfing and general aceness) was the collaboration with SoKo, which is their new single.
A departure from the usual pop greatness of the Swedish group, they take things down a notch for a hint of feeling and emotion. Like everything they do however, it’s amazing.
Watch and enjoy.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Britain’s The Boy Least Likely To have made waves in the past with their multi-instrumental pop tunes, and their back at it again with their latest release The Law of the Playground. Their sound clearly hasn’t evolved too much on this album, as they rely upon the same set of tricks that gained them popularity in the first place.
Once you press play, those of indie-pop should surely find a resemblance in vocalist Jof’s delivery, as his voice is a clear descendant of Matt Sharp of ...
I’m From Barcelona – Who Killed Harry Houdini? CD Review
AWmusic —
... memorable follow-up album fades quickly.
The rest of the album – save the timid, understated and dare I say mildly-brilliant Gunhild – sounds unfinished. It’s as if someone forgot to add backing vocals and vital instrumental accompaniment. Making a band with thirty members sound ‘small” isn’t a stroke of genius, it’s a waste of (aural) space.
Maybe it’s time I’m From Barcelona became a trio.
