If this ends up being an actual news story and Skarsgard is cast as Thor, I couldn’t be happier. His Eric is by far the coolest character on True Blood, he’s a great actor, and the guy is friggin’ huge. He would be the perfect choice to play Thor.

Apparently a sharp-eyed tip-person at Latino Review saw the actor and director (canoodling?) at a restaurant together, and later LR was somehow able to confirm Branagh had dined there at that time, hinting that the two might be discussing a collaboration.

The other issue is who to cast as Thor. None of the big movie stars are really good choices. You'd have to turn over a big part of the Avengers storyline to not only a comic book hero who isn't that familiar to mainstream audiences but to an actor they've probably never heard of, either, all directed by a dude who makes Shakespeare movies.
