News Briefs — Michael Jackson memorial to be held July 7 L.A.'s Staples Center According to CNN.com , a memorial service for the King of Pop will be held next Tuesday at the 20,000 seat Staples Center coliseum in downtown L.A. -- the same place where Jackson rehearsed the night before he died. Many fans were hoping for a service, motorcade, and even a possible public viewing at Jackson's Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara county, but a family spokesman said yesterday that no such events are planned.
