James McAvoy Is Not A Hobbit You knew it was too good to be true. Late last month there was a rumor going around that James McAvoy might be in the running to play young Bilbo Baggins in Guillermo del Toro’s new Hobbit movie. Fandom, appropriately, applauded in approval. I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for the part. Unfortunately, he won’t be playing it. The guys at Collider say they caught up with McAvoy in London and riddled him with the Hobbit question. McAvoy’s response? “It's not true by the way, it's all internet rumoring and nothing else I'm afraid. Sorry.” ...

The internet breathed a collective sigh of relief when a couple weeks ago we reported James McAvoy would play Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit because it meant that Jack Black was no longer being considered. Well now we brace for impact as we hear from the potential hobbit himself that its not true. Collider says: Wanted junket in London where James McAvoy said, “it’s not true by the way, it’s all internet rumoring and nothing else I’m afraid. A few weeks ago we posted the story about James McAvoy being rumored to play Bilbo Baggins in the new Hobbit movies, but apparently those were just that: rumors.
