Friday is the 4th of July, so there are a couple of good specials on. On NBC at 9/8c is the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular at 9/8c and on CBS at 10/9c is the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular . Happy 4th of July to all the Americans!

It's my favorite time of year again. Time to celebrate the land of the freedom fries and home of the Atlanta Braves. Here's a slew of links to July 4th happenings around this great nation. DC: The National Mall fireworks/symphony show is awesome. You can no longer bring booze to the Mall and your stuff will be searched, but the fireworks still kick ass. I hope you enjoyed fireworks last night without blowing your hand off. I never quite got the attraction of holding lit sticks with small explosives made in unknown countries by craftsmen who earn nineteen cents a month. I saw a lovely fireworks display last night at the Hollywood Bowl. Of course, so did people who paid much less for seats than me and saw them just as well. Being a baseball ...Work Your Weekend!

It's another holiday, and that means more TV marathons and specials! Here's a handy guide to the 4th (and the 5th and 6th). July 4 AMC has Planet of the Apes movies all morning, then the Jaws movies starting at 10:30am. At 6am, USA has a Walker, Texas Ranger marathon. Last week was a great one for shows here in Boston. Among the best was Josh Ritter and his band performing with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall, the legendary home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
