Published 7/17/2008 by Kirsten Anderson at At The Movies - Film News and Reviews
Seriously, you’d rather have an umbrella right now more than a charmed gun.
Comic Book Adaptation of the Week (so far).
Variety reports that action director John Woo will direct Caliber, a title from Radical Comics. Radical is a studio working on projects with a number of writers, artists, and companies, including Johnny Depp’s Infinite Nihil. Depp’s company will produce the film along with Barry Levine of Radical and Woo and partner Terence Chang’s company Lion Rock.
Here’s how the oh so reliable Wikipedia describes Caliber:

John Woo Set To Turn Comic Book Title Into Motion Picture!! Is It Legion Of Superheroes?? The Doom Patrol?? Planetary??
Published 7/17/2008 by Hercules at Ain't It Cool News - The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
[image] [image] I am – Hercules!! John Woo (“Hard-Boiled,” “Hard Target,” “Broken Arrow,” “Face/Off,” “Mission: Impossible II,” “Windtalkers,” “Paycheck”) is set to direct a big-screen adaptation of the Radical comic book title “Caliber.” [image] Variety describes the premise: Radical Comics' hit story sets King Arthur and his knights as 19th century gunslingers in the Pacific Northwest. Woo has loads of other movie projects on his to-do list, including the second part of “Red Cliff” and “1949,” so it’s a little uncertain when he’ll get around to “Caliber. JOHN WOO PLANNING MORE STUPID CRAP
Published 7/17/2008 at FilmDrunk.com
The man behind Broken Arrow, Face/Off, Windtalkers, etc., is set to adapt a comic book series called Caliber. Caliber sets King Arthur firmly into the American Old West, which is rather fitting, since as a location it's nearly as mythical as Camelot [*fart sound* -Ed.]. Arthur is given Caliber, a tattooed six-shooter (how do you tattoo a gun?) given to him by the Native Americans. It's no ordinary gun, as it's never loaded with bullets. Only a man with Justice on his side can fire it, at which point it shoots lightning. Accompanying him through the Pacific Northwest are the The Knights of the Round Table, all ...
Dark Knight to Make Money. Trade Roughage 7/17/08
Published 7/17/2008 by Christopher Campbell at SpoutBlog
A little film called The Dark Knight opens tomorrow tonight, and it’s so highly anticipated and it has received so much positive buzz that one expert is predicting it could gross anywhere between $100-150 million. I’m going to to do him one better and broaden that gap further to $100-900 million. Good thing this isn’t The Price is Right.

... Woo's 22 Caliber: John Woo will direct the comic-book adaptation of Caliber for Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil. Story follows King Arthur and his knights as nineteenth-century gunslingers in the Pacific Northwest, where they undoubtedly leap sideways holding two pistols as doves fly away in slow motion. John Woo Packing a Large 'Caliber'

Filed under: Action, Independent, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Deals, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, WesternThere is a real trend of King Arthur revisionism lately -- first there was Galahad, then Brian K. Vaughn's Roundtable, and now John Woo is taking a crack at it with Caliber. Variety reports that the rights to the series have been snatched up by Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, Barry Levine's Radical Comics (also the book's publisher), and Woo's Lion Rock. Caliber sets King Arthur firmly into the American Old West, ...
John Woo Adapting Comic About This Really Rad Gun
Published 7/17/2008 at I Watch Stuff - The Best Movie News Ever
Variety is reporting that John Woo has plans to direct an adaptation of Radical Comics' Caliber. What is Caliber, you ask? It's a comic that takes Arthurian legend and places it in the setting of the Wild West. And how have they done that? By replacing Excalibur with the stupidest gun ever. From the ...
