FSR reader Christopher M. sent us over a tip early this morning about some new photos from the set of Jonah Hex. And no, they weren’t of Megan Fox in her wild west hooker costume. This time we actually get to see Josh Brolin as the film’s title character, a rough-n-tough gun slinger if there ever was one.
As you can see in the images above, which come to us via the gossip site Lainey Gossip, Brolin has the classic Hex snarl down thanks to some excellent make-up. Our first look at Josh Brolin in his Jonah Hex costume, not to mention make-up, has appeared on the Lainey Gossip blog. The main thrust of their story is some rather un-/Filmy jibber jabber about Brolin’s private life, but they decided to illustrate it with some Jonah Hex paparazzi shots from this last weekend’s shooting. These are the latest pictures of Josh Brolin on the set of Jonah Hex, the film based on the comic about a guy who’s a lot like The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Brolin has taken a very hands on role with this picture, it would seem. He was quite vocal in attacking it when screenwriters Neveldine and Taylor [Crank 2] were also attached to direct, then he appeard to be instrumental in both the hiring of [Horton Hears a Who Co-Director] Jimmy Hayward and John Malkovich, cast as the villain Quentin Turnbull.

For those who don’t know the comic book character, he’s a post-Civil War warrior with a mean streak a mile wide and half a face – with a nasty, scarred visage on the other side. The DC Comics adaptation revolves around a bounty hunter, an American Civil War veteran with scars covering the right side of his face, who attempts to stop a Southern plantation owner from raising an army of the undead.
Jonah Hex first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of “All-Star Western” before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.
