Life Before Her Eyes (2007) Links16
An intensely beautiful picture , 9 September 2007 I had the privilege of seeing this film at its World Premiere this weekend at the Toronto Film Festival. From the very opening sequence, this picture draws you in with its sheer beauty. The cinematography is terrific and at some points even terrifying (in a breath taking way) but what impressed me most was the dialog. Everything seemed so real, ... [link]

... This trailer for The Life Before Her Eyes, about a woman still struggling to overcome her guilt about surviving a Columbine-like tragedy when she was in high school, is very visually arresting. I’ll give it that. If you’re going to be lured in by lots of shots of young women in bikinis sitting alongside and diving into swimming pools then this will work for you since there’s lots of that. ...

New The Life Before Her Eyes trailer
Published 3/21/2008 by Chris at Movie Marketing Madness
... for The Life Before Her Eyes is a fair sight better than the first one that was released. It lays out the story of a woman who’s still haunted by a violent incident at her high school when she was a student there in a little better fashion. I think part of that is that we don’t see as much of the daughter of Uma Thurman’s character, who in the first trailer I kept getting confused with Evan Rachel Wood, who plays the younger version of Thurman’s character. ...

“The Life Before Her Eyes” Movie Poster and Movie Trailer with Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood

Based on the best-selling novel by Laura Kasischke, The Life Before Her Eyes (official site) is a dramatic thriller about Diana (Oscar-nominee Uma Thurman), a suburban wife and mother who begins to question her seemingly perfect life–and perhaps her sanity–on the 15th anniversary of a tragic high school shooting that took the life of her best friend. In flashbacks, Diana is a vibrant high schooler (played by Evan Rachel Wood of Thirteen and The Upside of Anger) who, with her ...

The 88 minutes takes place in real time - anyone remember 'Nick of Time' with Johnny Depp - as Pacino attempts to solve a copycat murder all while trying to keep himself from becoming the next victim. The ordeal puts into question his testimony that sent another man to death row and Pacino finds he has to count even those closest to him as suspects. Leelee Sobieski also stars. Reel Thoughts: School Daze

... It’s a sad comment when a serious-minded film harkens back to last year’s horrible Sandra Bullock stink bomb, Premonition, but The Life Before Her Eyes does just that. Despite stellar performances from everyone in the cast, confident direction by Vadim Perelman, and beautiful cinematography, Life (in theaters now) is a long lead-up to a colossal cheat that utterly ruins all that came before it. ...

... around a lot by people who don't use it correctly. It does not mean, "This work of art requires that you think a lot, and it probably isn't much fun to watch it, so only arrogant people and posers will claim to like it." It means, "This work of art believes that it is much smarter than is actually the case. It has pretensions to being something that it is not, namely intelligent. In fact, it is ponderous and a monkey could probably understand it." And by this latter definition, The Life Before Her Eyes is an flawless example of a pretentious movie. REQUIEM FOR A GRUMPY OLD MAN

... celluloid. Of course one cannot expect prurience from every old art film, but this is a good example of the way that the film treats every sexy moment: sex is not to be enjoyed but endured, so that we can get back to the greater thrill of talking about sex. Coixet's camera is tremendously dispassionate in all cases, full of careful compostions lit with precise gloomy intensity; the last movie I saw with such whole-hearted devotion to elegant stagnation, it was Vadim Perelman's dreary The Life Before Her Eyes . Bringing some minute spark to the film, enough to make it simply ...

Perelman in talks for "Poltergeist"
Published 9/3/2008 by Jane Boursaw at Film Gecko
Vadim Perelman is in talks to develop MGM’s “Poltergeist” remake as a potential directing gig. The deal would bring Perelman together with writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, hired last week to revamp the 1982 classic. It’s an interesting choice, because Perelman really doesn’t have a ton of experience. He directed, produced and wrote House of Sand and Fog in 2003, and directed and produced The Life Before Her Eyes in 2007. He’s also attached to direct Truce, releasing in 2010. ...
